SRE teams establishing or overhauling SLO frameworks need to translate vague reliability targets into concrete error budget policies, burn-rate alert thresholds, and escalation procedures that engineering and product leadership will actually honour. Without structured policy, error budgets exist on paper but drive no behaviour.
